Rehabilitation of 200 people with intellectual disabilities in Minya Governorate through the organization of agricultural field schools with 10 grassroots associations for two years in 5 centers (Beni Mazar – Samalut – Minya – Abu Qurqas – Malawi) to train and empower them economically by carrying out economic projects (with the help of their families) with the aim of integrating them into society and improving the living conditions for them and their families, and contributing to the creation of a supportive and inclusive society for persons with disabilities, and the project aims to:
- Raising the capabilities of 200 people with intellectual disabilities from the age of 12 to 45 at the level of 5 centers in Minya Governorate to be qualified for work and production.
- Granting the targeted persons with intellectual disabilities grants and loans after passing the training, so that they can implement their projects.
- Providing awareness and skills necessary for the parents of persons with intellectual disabilities targeted to support their families in establishing small projects that generate income for them after training them through the project program.
About Field Schools:
- Each school consists of 20 students, for a full year, 5 days a week, to receive the rehabilitation program to provide students with skills related to agriculture and agricultural products, in order to qualify them to choose projects to be implemented by the end of the qualifying field academic year, by 10 field schools within 10 associations to serve 200 people with intellectual disabilities.
- The project gives 40 scholarships to outstanding people with intellectual disabilities (there are specific criteria to determine the 40 beneficiaries) after completing the training, while the rest of the beneficiaries will be referred to Nasser Social Bank to obtain soft loans to establish their projects.
Field Schools Curriculum:
The curricula are developed by an agricultural consultant and a consultant in the field of disability to suit the capabilities of the target group of people with intellectual disabilities so that the curriculum contains different agricultural inclusions (seedlings, poultry, feed, etc.) that provide the opportunity to choose for those attached to the school to know the various and different economic activities appropriate to their abilities and tendencies, in addition to other topics related to personal care, the art of communication, healthy habits and other life skills that make it easier for people with disabilities to do their own things without assistance as it facilitates them Integration into society and good dealing with various parties in the surrounding society.
