Ataa Fund Supports the Launch of the First Accessible Community Medical Clinic for Persons with Mobility Disabilities in Giza
The Ibrahim Ahmed Badran Foundation for Charitable Medical Services, in partnership with and with funding from Ataa Fund for Supporting Persons with Disabilities, officially inaugurated the first community medical clinic designed to be fully accessible for persons with mobility disabilities in Giza Governorate on Monday, 29 July 2026.
The initiative marks an important milestone in promoting accessible healthcare in Egypt by applying the Egyptian Accessibility Code, ensuring that persons with disabilities can access essential medical services safely, independently, and with dignity.
Located in Osim, Giza, the clinic has undergone a comprehensive accessibility upgrade based on the actual needs of wheelchair users. The improvements include the construction of an accessible entrance ramp, a fully accessible restroom, and clear wayfinding signage to facilitate safe and independent movement throughout the facility. Together, these enhancements establish the clinic as a practical model for inclusive healthcare services.
The project reflects Ataa Fund's commitment to removing the physical barriers that prevent persons with disabilities from accessing essential services, recognizing that the right to healthcare begins with ensuring that healthcare facilities themselves are accessible.
The clinic will provide affordable medical services across a range of essential specialties, including Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Dermatology, Pharmacy services, and health awareness programs. By offering these services at symbolic fees, the initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on low-income families while expanding access to quality healthcare.
The facility is expected to serve approximately 960 beneficiaries every month, with around 10% of beneficiaries being persons with disabilities. A beneficiary registration and monitoring system will also be implemented to measure the impact of the accessibility interventions and evaluate user satisfaction, supporting continuous service improvement and future expansion.
This initiative represents the first model funded by Ataa Fund to implement accessibility standards within community healthcare facilities, creating a scalable model that can be replicated in medical institutions across Egypt. The project contributes to embedding accessibility as a fundamental standard in healthcare delivery rather than an exceptional feature.
Through strategic partnerships with civil society organizations, Ataa Fund continues to invest in sustainable, high-impact initiatives that ensure equitable access to essential services for persons with disabilities. The Fund believes that genuine inclusion begins by removing the barriers that limit the exercise of fundamental rights, foremost among them the right to quality healthcare.
